Issue Overview
Maine’s economic health impacts local small businesses, the housing and fishing industry, and agriculture. We have so many small businesses and some of the highest taxes.
In 2024, CNBC ranked Maine the 42nd state to run a small business in the country.
With over 15,000 small businesses employing about 56% of the state’s workforce.
The Starboard’s Solution
National tax reform will help strengthen Maine’s economy, significantly reducing the impact on families. Once taxes start decreasing, income is going to increase, and business growth is going to expand. More businesses in Maine means more taxes coming in for the municipalities. We can provide more benefits for constituents that are in need. This will make our infrastructure and schools better, will help those in need and our senior citizens. It will make housing more affordable. Through means of fiscal responsibility, we can reduce the debt load on our children.
